Santo Domingo, 13 August (RHC) Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca arrived in the capital today to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the re-elected Dominican President Luis Abinader, which will take place next Friday.

The Cuban delegation to the inauguration also includes Ydael Pérez Brito, Minister of Agriculture; Rafael Dausá Céspedes, Director General for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and the Cuban Ambassador to this Caribbean nation, Angel Arzuaga Reyes.

Upon his arrival at Las Americas International Airport around 10:00am local time, Fonseca was received by Juan José Porto Real, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Arzuaga Reyes.

Cuba and the Dominican Republic established relations on 16 April 1998, following the visit of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
