Havana, August 22 (RHC)-- On a day like today in the year 1922, the first radio transmissions began here in Cuba.

Dos L C -- two l c -- signed on the air.  The radio station began transmissions under the ownership of Luis Casas Romero, a musician and composer.  A renowed flautist, Casas Romero also owned radio station COC, the first shortwave radio station in Cuba and later taking the call letters COCO.

The first Cuban radio broadcast, on this date in 1922 -- 102 years ago today.
