The event will allow national and foreign participants to receive training on the inspection carried out when transporting radioactive materials

Havana, September 2 (RHC) From today until Thursday the 5th, delegates from Latin America and the Caribbean will participate in the Regional Workshop on Physical Security Inspection of the Transportation of Radioactive Materials, which will take place at the Palco hotel, in Havana, sponsored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The event, organized by the Protection Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior, together with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, will allow national and foreign participants to receive training on the inspection carried out when transporting radioactive materials. The contents will be taught by IAEA experts, and will include exchanges of experiences between the represented countries.

According to IAEA reports, a countless number of products currently depend on the safe physical transportation of radioactive materials from the manufacturer to the final destination, due to the increase in the use of this type of substance fundamentally in the Medicine and Agriculture industries, which is why they are marketed with increasing frequency and volumes.

This requires compliance with strict safety standards and international regulations, as well as ongoing training and advice of the personnel and entities responsible. (Source: Granma)
