President of Cuba highlights relations with Trinidad and Tobago

At the meeting, Díaz-Canel highlighted the historical relations between his country and Trinidad and Tobago

 

Havana, September 5 (RHC) In a meeting with Bridgid Annisette-George, president of the House of Representatives of Trinidad and Tobago, Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel stated that her visit will mark a milestone in relations between both countries.

Díaz-Canel highlighted the historical relations, based on respect, friendship and solidarity, and emphasized the close relationship between both nations, which has a fundamental basis in the exchange of projects, ideas, and common positions.

He pointed out the importance of parliamentary relations between both nations, because they are a fundamental component to also support the efforts of the governments, and jointly advance on projects and common positions in international forums.

He also assured the President of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago that Cuba maintains its commitments set out in the most recent Cuba-Caricom Summit, in which the largest of the Antilles proposed a group of projects to work together.

In turn, the Trinidadian parliamentary leader stressed that this official visit is a demonstration of the intention to exploit different possibilities of mutual cooperation.

The vice president of Cuban parliament, Ana María Mari Machado, and Eugenio Martínez Enríquez, general director of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were also present at the meeting. (Source: ACN)
