International Cooperative Convention begins in Havana

COOPERAT 2024 is part of the roadmap towards the 6th World Forum on Local Economic Development, to be held next year in Spain

 

Havana, September 17 (RHC) The 15th International Cooperative Convention (COOPERAT 2024) will be inaugurated today at the Havana Convention Palace, called for by the Center for Management Studies, Local Development, Tourism and Cooperatives, attached to the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the Hermanos Saíz Montes de Oca University of Pinar del Río.

The event is part of the roadmap towards the 6th World Forum on Local Economic Development, scheduled for April 1 to 4, 2025, in Seville, Spain.

The convention is sponsored by the Ministries of Agriculture and Tourism, the nNational Associations of Economists and Accountants of Cuba and of Small Farmers, the National Institute of Economic Research; the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations; and the United Nations Development Program.

The objectives of the event are the promotion of the formation of networks, South-South cooperation, and of people and institutions linked to the cooperative sector and the social economy in general; and the exchange of theoretical concepts, methodological tools and experiences of good practices associated with the topics of the convention.

COOPERAT 2024 also includes workshops on cooperatives linked to management, local development, and sustainable tourism; as well as forums on business and foreign investment. (Source: ACN)
