Havana, October 6 (RHC)-- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel held a meeting on Saturday with the highest authorities of the capital and the Plaza de la Revolución municipality, to discuss the issue of solid waste collection.

The meeting was also attended by Yudith Mercedes Rodríguez Hernández, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Party.

The Ministries of Economy and Planning and Telecommunications are working together with the local authorities for the beautification of the Plaza municipality, a territory with 12.3 km2 and a little more than 140 thousand inhabitants, which is also the oldest municipality in the country, with 42% of its population aged 60 years and over.

In a dialogue with young Rolannys Rodríguez González, first secretary of the Party in the municipality, the head of state insisted on the need to reach the most vulnerable neighborhoods and places, not only staying in the main avenues.
“Badly done things cannot be contemplated, they must be confronted with rigor. We must explain to our people and be sensitive to the problems,” he said.

Díaz-Canel called to do a differentiated work with all forms of management to better organize waste collection, and make more efficient use of recycling options.

Plaza de la Revolución is a locality where services are its main source of work. The crucial role of the delegates to the Municipal Assemblies of People's Power and the accompaniment of their accountability were other topics of the meeting.
Among the main issues raised by the population in the meetings with their delegates, communal hygiene stands out as one of the most recurrent (Source: @PresidenciaCuba and Cubadebate). (Source: @PresidenciaCuba and Cubadebate)
