Cuban Deputy Prime Minister in Rome for World Food Forum

The forum is part of Food Day on October 16, which will focus on the right to food for a better life

 

Havana, Oct 14 (RHC) The Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba, Jorge Luis Tapia, arrived in Italy on Sunday to participate in the 4th World Food Forum, convened by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and taking place from today until October 18.

He was received by Mirta Granda, head of Cuba's diplomatic mission to Italy. The Cuban delegation also includes senior managers from the Ministries of Agriculture, Foreign Trade and Investment, and other Cuban officials.

As part of his visit, Tapia is scheduled to meet with FAO director general Qu Dongyu, and with officials from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Food Program (WFP).

The World Food Forum will bring together world leaders, entrepreneurs, and experts who will discuss the global food crisis and initiatives to solve it. It is a platform for discussing agri-food systems and accelerating the achievement of sustainable development goals.

This year's theme is youth, science and innovation, as well as the investments necessary to boosting the agricultural sector globally. Topics include family farming, water scarcity, and sustainable food practices.
