The movement called for movilization in support for Cuba at all levels, in the face of the current energy crisis

Havana, Oct 21 (RHC) The State Solidarity Movement with Cuba (MESC) reaffirmed on Monday its support for the island in the face of the energy crisis of recent days.

In a statement, the organization stressed its recognition of Cuba’s resistance and its efforts to solve the problems and guarantee solutions to combat the accumulated consequences of 65 years of an economic, commercial and financial blockade from the United States.

It also recalled that the US siege on the Caribbean island has tightened in recent years and especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, “affecting the development of the country and the direct life of the Cuban people”.

"In fact, the current US President, after almost four years since his inauguration, has still done nothing to put an end to the aggressive policy that violates international law, and keeps Cuba on the list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism”.

In this regard, the Movement pointed out that every hour of the blockade entails more than $500 thousand in damages to the Cuban economy, $13.8 million a day and more than $421 million a month. To this situation, a new hurricane affects the eastern part of the country.

In this context, it called for the mobilization in support of Cuba at all possible levels: campaigns and material shipments, among others.

In their statement, they also highlighted the result of the International Tribunal against the US blockade of Cuba, held in Brussels in November 2023, which ruled a conviction of Washington for crimes of aggression against the island's sovereignty, crimes against humanity, and that demanded the elimination of the economic siege immediately.
