Cuban Parliament expresses gratitude for solidarity against the blockade
Havana, 30 October (RHC) The National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, through its official account on X, today expressed its gratitude for the recent declaration by the Andean Parliament against the blockade imposed on the island for more than six decades.
From the Assembly, we are grateful for the solidarity,' the legislative body said on the social network.
On the same platform, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez also thanked the Andean Parliament, the deliberative, consultative and political control body of the Andean Community, for calling on the Washington administration to remove the island from its unilateral list of countries accused of supporting terrorism.
Rodríguez pointed out in X that the Mexican Chamber of Deputies has called for an end to the economic, commercial and financial siege imposed on the island by the United States.
This Wednesday, the UN General Assembly will vote on the draft resolution presented by Cuba against the blockade, a policy that caused losses estimated at 5.56.8 billion dollars last year.
After more than three decades, the forum of 193 countries maintains a firm and almost unanimous stance against this set of measures, whose total losses are estimated at 499 billion dollars over more than six decades of application.
The most recent consideration of the draft resolution, in November 2023, resulted in 187 votes in favor, two votes against (the United States and Israel) and the abstention of one member state (Ukraine).
