ICAP president will speak in India with university students and friends of Cuba

Havana, Nov 5 (RHC) The president of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples (ICAP), Fernando González, will speak today in India with university students and the main organizers of the Indian Solidarity Committee for Cuba.

This Monday, González met with a group of left-wing leaders, mainly from the Communist Party in Kerala, including MA Baby and Amra Ram, members of the Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament); as well as ND Gupta, a member of the upper house of the legislature for the Aam Aadmi Party.

According to diplomatic sources, the main topics discussed were the possibility of establishing youth solidarity teams with the Caribbean nation and deepening cooperation between Cuba and Kerala in various fields.

González will also visit two higher education institutions, where he will meet with students from Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia. Later in the evening, he will meet with representatives of the Cuba Solidarity Committee.

The president of ICAP started his visit to India, whose people have always supported Cuba in its struggle against the imperialist threat of the United States.

In this regard, Tapan Sen, general secretary of Central Trade Unions, told the Cuban press that Cuba’s anti-imperialist stance inspires and motivates those who continue to fight for their rights around the world.

Hemlata Soni, president of the Indian organization, also confirmed the organization's willingness to continue supporting Cuba and mobilizing workers for that cause, and reiterated its condemnation of Washington's blockade against the island.

The union leader emphasized that Cuba's survival depends on the struggle of the global working class against neoliberal policies imposed by Washington and financial institutions in order to protect corporate profits and exploit people and their resources. (Source: PL)
