Paris, November 24 (ACN)-- The 19th European Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, based in Paris, closed its first sessions on Saturday with strong denunciations of the United States blockade of the island and its inclusion in the spurious list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

The delegates - more than 300 from 28 countries - ratified the decision to continue the defense of the Caribbean nation by intensifying political activities, material collaboration, local cooperation projects and the promotion of actions in the legislative field.

Fernando González Llort, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), denounced that the economic blockade not only attacks the Cuban people but also violates the sovereign right of all countries to freely interact with Cuba.

Relevant activists condemned the aggressiveness of the United States, such as André Chassaigne, a French communist deputy, Maité Mola, from the European Left Party and Lauren Brun, from the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) in France.

Víctor Fernández, president of CubaCooperación-France, called for sharing experiences and deciding on joint actions, “we must increase support in sectors such as health, food, renewable energy and tourism,” he said.

Medicuba Europe's contribution to the island is valued at 30 million euros invested in medicines, pacemakers, the purchase of millions of syringes and supplies for the pharmaceutical industry, among other items.

This was announced by the president of that organization, Dr. Franco Cavalli, who specified that he will continue to help the Cuban health care system because of its example in the right of the people to health and its internationalism.

The Meeting ends Sunday with the adoption of a Final Declaration, a Plan of Action and a public demonstration in a central Parisian square. (PL)
