Havana, Nov 28 (RHC) The Isla Verde International Film and Environmental Festival of the Caribbean is calling for its third edition, which will take place on the Isla de la Juventud from April 6 to 12, 2025.

Interested parties can submit their works until December 26, 2024, with narratives that promote the conservation and protection of the environment and document the active relationship between humans and nature.

In addition to the competition sections, the event will feature conferences, workshops, concerts, trainings, exhibitions, thematic cycles, a fair for entrepreneurs, among other initiatives.

For selection in the competition, feature films and short films produced between 2023 and 2024 that explore the environmental theme and address the active relationship between humans and nature will be considered.

For international productions, it is mandatory that the film has not been previously premiered in Cuba, except for those created and produced within the national territory.

The selected films will be notified by the event Organizing Committee on February 10, 2025.

The festival was founded in 2022 by the actor, director, and National Film Award winner in 2024, Jorge Perugorría, and aims at providing a critical perspective on the pressing challenges of protecting natural resources in the Caribbean through cinema.

It is the main platform for the Isla Verde Local Development Project (PDL), based in the Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality, and organized by that project along with Four Wives, the Antonio Núñez Jiménez Foundation of Nature and Man, and the Gorría Workshop Gallery. (Source: Prensa Latina)
