Havana, January 1 (RHC)-- In commemoration of the 66th anniversary of the Revolution's triumph, a representation of the people of Santiago de Cuba paid tribute today to the Historical Leader Fidel Castro and to José Martí, National Hero.

After the traditional change of the honor guard, a fragment of the speech by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, was heard in the historic Santa Ifigenia cemetery, on a similar date in 2024, where he reaffirmed the commitment to change everything that needs to be changed without renouncing socialist principles.

To the rhythm of the chords of "His name is people" and the voice of Sara González, José Ramón Monteagudo Ruiz, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PCC and head of the Agro-Food Department, Beatriz Johnson, first secretary of the political organization in the province, Manuel Falcón, governor, and representatives of political and mass institutions and entities, placed bouquets and loose flowers before the monolith that guards the remains of the eternal Commander in Chief.

The tribute extended to the Mausoleum of the Cuban Apostle José Martí, to the tomb of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, the initiator of the struggles for independence in 1868, and to Mariana Grajales, Mother of the Homeland.
