International Jazz Plaza Festival will reach the center of Cuba
Havana, Jan 13 (RHC) The 40th edition of the International Jazz Plaza Festival will broaden its reach in 2025 with the addition of Santa Clara, the capital city of the central region of Cuba.
From January 26 to February 2, the event will also be held in Havana and Santiago de Cuba, bringing together 150 jazz groups and featuring approximately 200 performances by established regional jazz artists and emerging talents.
In the Santa Clara region, the organizers anticipate the participation of over 30 groups and soloists, led by the pianist Ignacio «Nachito» Herrera, a Cuban musician residing in the United States and a prominent figure in the jazz scene at the most prestigious international festivals.
Eliot Porta, a member of the planning committee for the Jazz Plaza in Santa Clara, stated that one of the most eagerly anticipated events in that territory is the performance of Nachito Herrera with the city's symphony orchestra.
In Santa Clara, the festival will take place in the iconic venues of the city, including the Leoncio Vidal and Las Arcadas parks, the La Luna Naranja rock, the El Mejunje cultural center, the Caturla Hall of the Provincial Library, and the La Caridad Theater.
These venues are renowned for their diverse and bohemian atmosphere, making them a must-visit for anyone interested in the cultural scene of the city.
According to Víctor Rodríguez, the chairman of the organizing committee for Jazz Plaza 2025, this year's edition will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the International Colloquium "Leonardo Acosta in memoriam", the 80th anniversary of Frank Fernández's birth, and the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry.
The Jazz Plaza International Festival, along with the Havana International Ballet Festival and the New Latin American Cinema Festival, is regarded as one of the most significant cultural events in Cuba.
This year, its expansion to Santa Clara will ensure its presence in the western, central, and eastern regions of the country. (Source: Prensa Latina)
