Havana, Jan 14 (RHC) Cuban experts shared this Monday the findings of their work with the AI-powered tools at a meeting of a scientific, medical, and biotechnological working group that reports to Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel.

The meeting addressed government plans to expand the use of artificial intelligence across all sectors of the Cuban economy and society, with the aim of streamlining operations and enhancing services for the public.

Developers in this field showed the advancement in the procedures within the Ministry of Justice, particularly in the automated issuance of legal documents.

They also examined the outcomes in the defense and internal affairs of the nation, reflected in the sphere of criminal investigation, which has made significant progress such as facial recognition and fingerprint analysis.

According to the experts, AI is being developed in various fields, including transportation, government, finance, internal monitoring of economic operations, and healthcare.

The Minister of Informatics and Communications, Mayra Arevich, presented the Cuban plan for the implementation and application of artificial intelligence, which will pave the way for the successful execution of new initiatives and outcomes in the short, medium, and long term.

The government anticipates several benefits from this technology, including enhanced efficiency and time savings, minimized human mistakes, improved decision-making capabilities, a boost in the ability to acquire new knowledge, and a revolution in medical diagnostics.
