Cuba will be present at the Madrid International Tourism Fair

Havana, Jan 15 (RHC) Cuba will be present at the Madrid Internation Tourism Fair from January 22 to 26, with a delegation headed by the Minister of Tourism, Juan Carlos García, and comprising tour operators, hotel chains, and travel promotion companies.

García stated that the interest in the Cuba destination remains strong in Spain, and during these days, the delegation will showcase a variety of features that are unique to the Caribbean island.

Until November, the number of Spanish citizens who traveled to Cuba increased to 60,901, representing a 73.2% compared to the same period the previous year.

While Spain has long been a standout performer in the European market, there are some factors that could potentially undermine its performance.

The decision by the U.S. government to discontinue the expedited ESTA visa process for citizens of the European continent who have previously visited Cuba is one of the obstacles in this field.

Nevertheless, Cuba will showcase its finest products at the Fair, with a vibrant display in Pavilion 3, which is specifically dedicated to the Americas.

It is anticipated that the number of direct flights to Cuba will further expand in 2025, which will boost the tourism sector.

Niurka Pérez, Cuba’s tourism advisor in Spain and Portugal, explained that to enhance the influx of visitors, the country will further expand its offerings, which include novel experiences in areas such as nature, rural areas, as well as agricultural and adventure tourism.

It will also focus on cultural and historical sites, health tourism, and events for the LGBTQ+ community.

It is planned that by the next summer season direct connections will be included between Barcelona and the city of Santa Clara in central Cuba, located one hour from the keys full of spas in the north of Villa Clara.

Spain has 16 weekly flights to Cuba, operated by Air Europa, Iberia, World2Fly, AirChina, and Cubana de Aviación.

It is anticipated that by the upcoming summer season, direct flights will be available between Barcelona and the Cuban central city of Santa Clara, which is located one hour away from the renowned spa resorts in the northern region of Villa Clara.

In addition to the activities at the Cuban stand at Madrid International Tourism Fair, the Cuban Night will be held at the Meliá Castilla hotel in Madrid. The program also includes meetings with investors and representatives of Cuban agencies in Spain, and the launch of the Santiago rum. (Source: Prensa Latina)
