Cuba extends its sympathies to Zimbabwe following the passing of Chimutengwende

Chen Chimutengwende was a prominent political and solidarity figure from Zimbabwe, and the founder of the Zimbabwe-Cuba Friendship Association

 

Havana, Jan 20 (RHC) The president of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples (ICAP), Fernando González Llort, expressed his deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Chen Chimutengwende, a prominent political and solidarity figure from Zimbabwe, who passed away in Harare.

He described Chimutengwende as a man committed to the fight for justice and for a free and independent nation. He was also a staunch advocate of pan-Africanism and the unity of all the people on the African continent.

According to González, the also founder of the Zimbabwe-Cuba Friendship Association was actively involved in the support efforts and consistently demonstrated his unwavering support and solidarity with the Revolution.

For his dedication to the cause of Solidarity, he was honored with the Friendship Medal, presented to him by the Council of State of Cuba at the suggestion of the ICAP.

Upon receiving the news of his passing, the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangawa, bestowed the title of National Hero upon the politician and former minister, in recognition of his invaluable contributions to the nation's independence.  (Source: Prensa Latina)
