Havana, January 22 (RHC)-- As part of the country's preparation for defense, the Strategic Exercise Bastion 2024 is taking place in the national territory from today, Wednesday, the 22nd, until January 24th.

Its execution was planned for November of last year; however, due to the effects as a consequence of the passage of hurricanes Oscar – through the eastern provinces – and Rafael – through the West –, and the impact of the earthquakes in Granma and Santiago de Cuba, it was necessary to postpone it until this year.

The exercise aims to train the leadership and command bodies of the different structures in charge of national and territorial defense, in the organization of work in the interest of raising the country's readiness for Defense and the preparation of troops and the population, in order to face the different actions of the enemy.

The University Student Bastion was held the day before, an expression of the participation of young people in the defense of the Homeland.

During the Strategic Exercise Bastion 2024, and the National Defense Day, which will be on Saturday the 25th, tactical maneuvers and exercises of different types will be carried out, with the participation of units of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior and other components of the territorial defense system. Therefore, there will be movements of troops and war material, aviation flights, and explosions may be felt throughout the country.
