Havana, Jan 22 (RHC) The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, has expressed gratitude on the social media platform X to the Chinese government for the donation that will contribute to the rehabilitation of the island’s National Electric System.
This project to supply equipment and spare parts for electric generators to Cuba was launched in line with the agreement between presidents Miguel Díaz-Canel and Xi Jinping.
Hua Xin, the Chinese ambassador to Cuba, stated at the reception event that this shipment is part of the second round of aid from China this year, aimed at assisting in the restoration of the generation capacity of approximately 400 megawatts in over 70 diesel and fuel-powered power plants across the country.
He indicated that this shipment weighs 69 tons and includes radiators, engines, and other components. Additional supplies for power generation are anticipated to be delivered.
This assistance will allow for the repair of 38 diesel generators and the upkeep of 50 fuel oil groups, which will benefit the energy consumption of 53,200 households and serve as a backup power source. (Source: Granma)
