At the start of his new presidential term, Donald Trump has displayed the criminal attitude that he already displayed in the previous one. Without any moral or legal basis, his impudence has been displayed on international levels with the media spectacularity of an egotistical magnate and convicted criminal. Against Cuba in particular, the “Republican” resumes the cruelty with which he had already reinforced the blockade with extreme measures that his “democratic” predecessor maintained despite promises for electoral purposes.

Once again, both the imperialist nature of a system that violates human rights and his accumulated rage at a reality that he has not managed to change and will not succeed in changing are confirmed: Cuba's ability to defend its sovereignty and the search for living conditions that its people deserve to have and the imperialist forces are determined to prevent it.

To deprive Cuba of this achievement, the United States government established a blockade more than six decades ago, and one after another its administrations have seen their efforts fail, although they have caused serious damage to Cuba.

The president who has returned to the White House is the same one who, resorting to lies and manipulation in a media war that never ceases, in addition to tightening the blockade against the Cuban people, tried to annihilate them in multiple ways, even depriving them of oxygen, masks and other resources to face a lethal pandemic.

With creativity and effort, Cuba achieved vaccines of proven effectiveness, which continue to deserve global admiration, despite the slanderous propaganda of the same nation that was far from being able to handle the pandemic as its own people needed, and that has been an accomplice or co-sponsor of monstrosities such as the genocide in Palestine.

It takes a lot of cynicism to proclaim that the measures taken to strangle the Cuban people seek to defend their freedom. Cuba liberated itself in 1959 against a tyranny supported by the empire that Trump represents today, and the Cuban people will continue to resolutely confront the imperialist forces.

If they will achieve anything, it will be to ratify it in its decision to overcome every obstacle that is placed in its path, and to do everything necessary for the common good. In this way, it will maintain the dignity that it has worked so hard to achieve, in the face of an empire whose outrages portray its murderous nature and irreversible decline.

Cuba's guide remains its unrenounceable ¡Patria o Muerte, Venceremos!
