Cuba stands in solidarity with Colombia against unjust actions of the United States
Havana, Jan 27 (RHC) The president of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, voiced his backing for the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, in the face of the unjustified actions of the United States regarding the migration issue.
In his profile on the social media platform X, Díaz-Canel condemned the discriminatory approach and blackmail employed by the Trump administration in dealing with this matter, with the aim of exerting pressure on Latin American countries.
This Sunday, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, conveyed the island's endorsement of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in the face of the United States' actions against several nations in the region.
The Foreign Minister declared on social media that the forceful and indiscriminate deportation of undocumented immigrants in the northern country is unjustifiable and violates the fundamental rights of individuals.
He condemned the use of these actions as a means of exerting political influence on the people of Latin America.
The President of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, on Sunday convened a meeting with her counterparts from Latin America for an emergency session on Thursday, to address the pressing issue of Washington's immigration policy.
In a post on her X account, Castro, in her role as the President Pro Tempore of CELAC, urged for the immediate convening of this summit of heads of state.
She emphasized that the meeting will be a mix of online and in-person interactions. Petro, who will take over the pro-tempore presidency of CELAC, confirmed his personal attendance in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras. (Source: Prensa Latina)
