Havana, January 31 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel accompanied the participants in the VI International Conference For the Balance of the World, which is wrapping up Friday in Havana.

The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, together with Wafica Ibrahim, Lebanese journalist, director of Al Mayadeen in Spanish, an independent pan-Arab news channel, participated in the panel: “War and domination versus resistance and solidarity”, in which fake news, networks, communication war and responses from the Global South were discussed.

Special space is dedicated to the war of mass extermination in occupied Palestine, to the journalistic coverage on the ground of Al Mayadeen, to the psychological impact on the Palestinians and the humiliation to which they have been subjected for decades.

The president, in dialogue with the attendees of this biennial forum, referred to the need to continue insisting on peace in Palestine in all possible spaces.

He said that unity and solidarity between peoples is essential more than ever, when fascism advances.

"Cuba will always be supporting Palestine in its struggle, which has cost lives and the destruction of the country," he said   He said that he has no faith in the agreements reached on the ceasefire, "since it is a manipulated agreement, which seeks to cover up the genocide."

"One feels emotion and sadness at seeing the return of the Palestinian people to their lands, but also pain for the damage caused to their land," said the dignitary.

He recalled that "the United States is Israel's main ally, and in turn, Israel is a lackey of the United States" and nothing good, he said, can be expected from those governments.

Díaz-Canel stressed that solidarity is necessary to combat selfishness, competition and individualism.

Regarding the VI International Conference for the Balance of the World, he stressed that the forum has been a valuable space that is increasingly necessary to confront the inequalities of the contemporary context.

The president considered that the meeting showed that the thought of the National Hero José Martí continues to be relevant and necessary for change.

In addition, he added, it has been an opportunity for learning and exchange between different perspectives.
