Caracas, February 2 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil has expressed his country's solidarity with Cuba, in response to Washington's new measures against the Caribbean island.

On the social media Telegram, Foreign Minister Yván Gil said:

"Venezuela would stand in solidarity with Cuba, in the face of the unhealthy obsession that the U.S. State Department is launching against it.  Reinstating the so-called “Restricted List” is an act of useless revenge against a people who have shown, time and again, that they do not bend to blackmail or pressure.

"For more than six decades they have tried everything: blockade, sanctions, aggression, sabotage and even terrorism.  Nothing has worked.  Cuba remains standing, resisting and winning.

"This hatred is not only against Cuba, it is against the example it represents: a sovereign country that, despite all the adversities imposed, has managed to establish itself as a world reference for dignity, capable of sending doctors instead of soldiers and that shows that sovereignty is not negotiable.

"If the aggressions increase, the peoples of America will not sit idly by. Solidarity with Cuba is not an option, it is an unbreakable commitment.

Cuba is not alone, nor will it ever be."
