Havana, February 4 (RHC / ACN) -- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel has rejected statements by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who called Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela "enemies of humanity" and the cause of the current migration crisis in the hemisphere.
"Shamelessness once again taking hold of cynical U.S. politicians," Díaz-Canel declared from his X account, in response to a post by the Spanish news agency EFE with the comments made by Rubio this Tuesday at a press conference in San José, Costa Rica.
The Cuban leader clarified that the migratory exodus in Cuba is a response to the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the Caribbean country by the U.S. for more than 60 years, which deprives the Cuban people of essential goods.
"Humanity is in danger because of your neo-fascism," said the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic.
"The shamelessness once again taking over the cynical politicians of the US. It is proven that the migratory exodus in Cuba is proportional to the tightening of the blockade, which deprives our people of essential goods. Humanity is in danger because of your neo-fascism."
Are those of us who resist blockades without abandoning solidarity with other peoples or those who apply the blockade trampling on international laws enemies of humanity?, asked the president.
"The enemy of humanity is the empire with its expansionist appetite and its useless pretension of governing the world," he replied.

Through the same social network, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, described the projection of the North American government promoted by Rubio as a threat to Latin America and the Caribbean.
He stressed that these procedures are based on the corrupt and dishonest methods that he, former senator Bob Menéndez and other anti-Cubans have made into habitual practice.
"The projection of the United States towards Latin America and the Caribbean promoted by the Secretary of State is a threat to the region and logically rests on the corrupt and dishonest methods that he, his companion Bob Menéndez and other anti-Cubans have made into habitual practice."
In addition to Tuesday's statements, Rubio reinstated, on Friday, January 31st, Cuba's restricted list of Cuban companies that are prohibited from certain financial transactions, and expanded it by adding the main channel for sending remittances to the island.
This list prohibits direct financial transactions with certain entities because it is estimated that they would benefit Cuban security or intelligence services, at the expense of the Cuban population or private companies.
