Since its creation, the Cuban Cinematheque has sought to foster a continuous and enduring conversation between the audience and the world of cinema

Havana, Feb 6 (RHC) The celebration of the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Cinematheque begins today with a unique program that will continue until February 9 and includes both film screenings and a poster exhibition.

The classics and contemporary films that have garnered the admiration of both the general public and the discerning critics will find their place at the Cinema 23 and 12, the traditional home of this cultural institution.

The program will feature a selection of restored films, along with an exhibition of posters dedicated to the Italian actor Marcelo Mastroianni that will be held in the lobby of the cinema.

The inauguration of the event will be marked by the screening of the film "Porte des Lilas" (1957), directed by the renowned director René Clair.

The Cuban Cinematheque is affiliated with the Cuban Institute of Art and Cinematography, a highly respected organization that preserves and protects the national and international film legacy.

The interior of the cinematheque also safeguards the historical records of cinema, which are stored within its vaults. These records include books, magazines, posters, essays, and film reviews.

Since its inception, the Cuban Cinematheque has sought to foster a continuous and enduring conversation between the audience and the world of cinema, encompassing both contemporary and classic works.

One of its fundamental objectives is to serve as a hub for research and consultation, providing access to resources on the art of filmmaking and its history. (Source: Prensa Latina)
