Havana, February 16 (RHC) -- The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Djibouti, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, for his election to head the African Union (AU) Commission.

In a message on his X account, the dignitary pointed out that “with this organization and the mother continent we are united by close ties of brotherhood, friendship and cooperation.”

“The African Union can always count on Cuba,” Díaz-Canel added.

The congratulations came shortly after the election of Ali Youssouf to lead the continental organization for a four-year term, an issue that stands out on the agenda of the two-day XXXVIII Summit of the AU, which opened the day before in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

This meeting of Heads of State and Government has as its central theme “Justice for Africans and Afro-descendants through reparations.” (Source: Prensa Latina)
