Cuba and Malaysia with potential to enhance cooperation

Havana, Feb 19 (RHC) The recent trip of Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez to Malaysia has confirmed the potential for both nations to advance collaboration initiatives in various fields, according to ambassador Mohammad Radzi.

During the visit, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to working together in the field of biotechnology.

Another potential area is education, as stated by Radzi, who pointed out that Cuba is one of the Global South countries that has received assistance through Malaysia's Technical Cooperation Program.

In this regard, the Malaysian embassy in Havana announced a program of master's scholarships for young Cuban professionals at universities in the Asian country, in the context of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Radzi suggested further areas of cooperation, stemming from the fact that both nations are members of the G77 and China, the United Nations, and now associate members of the BRICS+.

In the framework of the BRICS+, Kuala Lumpur strives for more effective strategies and partnerships, the expansion of trade opportunities, and the removal of trade obstacles such as excessive tariffs, to foster a more open, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth.

During his trip to Malaysia, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez also met with his counterpart, Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan, and with Prime Minister Anwar Bin Ibrahim. He also greeted His Majesty Sharafuddin Idris Shah, the Sultan of Selangor.

In addition to other official activities, the foreign ministers oversaw the signing of two agreements - one on cooperation between the diplomatic training institutions of both countries, and another on collaboration between the Bernama and Prensa Latina news agencies. (Source: Prensa Latina)
