Havana, March 1 (RHC) The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, greeted today the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims in Cuba and the world.
The month of Ramadan is the ninth in the Islamic lunar calendar, during which Muslims refrain from eating, smoking, or engaging in sexual activity from sunrise to sunset.
The fast concludes with Eid al Fitr, which starts with a specific prayer. After that, the participants greet and wish each other happiness.
Each participant presents garments tailored to the event, as per the customary practice of dressing to the nines. The day is spent with loved ones, enjoying meals and exchanging gifts. (Source: Prensa Latina)
