Havana, March 6 (RHC) A fire broke out this Wednesday at a facility in Varadero, Cuba’s main sun and beach tourist destination, located in the province of Matanzas.
The fire was swiftly contained, preventing any casualties and ensuring the continuation of operations at the resort, according to local authorities.
The event, whose origins are still being investigated, occurred in a facility that was being used as a temporary storage for materials that were not yet ready for use and did not directly affect customer service.
According to Luis Martínez de Armas, representative of the Ministry of Tourism in Matanzas, the damage was confined to the facility. It did not extend to nearby buildings, nor did it harm employees, clients, or residents.
Martínez emphasized the efforts of the specialized teams, including the highest-ranking officials from the Fire Department, highlighting the security measures in place at the tourist hub.
The officials of the Ministry of Tourism in Varadero have emphasized that the incident does not pose any threat to the safety or enjoyment of tourists.
