Fourth edition of the Homeland International Colloquium begins in Cuba
Havana, March 17 (RHC) Cuba is hosting from today the 4th edition of the Homeland International Colloquium, focused on exploring how power dynamics are transformed in an interconnected world.
The event, hosted by the University of Havana, brings together approximately 400 participants from Cuba and 47 other nations to discuss the use of content and digital platforms as tools for social mobilization, political engagement, and the shaping of power.
Until Wednesday, participants will engage in conferences, panel discussions, and workshops to explore the unprecedented potential for interaction and social exchange in a context characterized by misinformation, hate speech, and manipulation.
The Homeland Colloquium, sponsored by the Cuban Union of Journalists and supported by Casa de las Américas and the Hermanos Saíz Association, provides a platform for communicators, scholars, politicians, activists, and concerned citizens to address the potential and obstacles of techno-politics.
This edition is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Telesur, a multi-state channel founded by Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, and the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Communication at the University of Havana.
The Homeland Colloquium has been taking place since 2022, in the context of the Cuban Press Day.
It pays tribute to the Patria newspaper – in English, homeland - established by the national hero José Martí in 1892 to promote libertarian ideals and unite Cubans in their pursuit of independence from the Spanish colonial power. (Source: Prensa Latina)
