Havana, March 31 (RHC)-- Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez has denounced the double standards of anti-Cuban U.S. congressional representatives who promoted economic suffocation measures against the Caribbean country and are now participating in the hunt for migrants from the island.

“The same anti-Cuban congresspeople who have turned the manipulation of Cuban migration into a business in exchange for a few thousand votes and a few million dollars are now part of a hunt for migrants from #Cuba whose suffocating policies have incited them to go to the #US and lie at the border,” Rodríguez emphasized on the social media platform X.

In recent days, the top Cuban diplomat pointed out that the tightening of U.S. immigration policy is a lucrative move, as well as a violation of human rights.

According to his comment on the aforementioned platform, the United States “is the country of differences, privilege, and plutocracy.”

Since January 20, the day of his inauguration, Donald Trump announced an aggressive agenda targeting immigration, energy, and international trade, and also dismantled the provisions of his Democratic predecessor, Joe Biden.

After entering the Oval Office, the president declared a national emergency on the southern border to combat irregular migration.  He sent 1,500 additional troops to the border with Mexico and began the controversial process of raids and deportations, even using military aircraft.

He also revived the "Remain in Mexico" program, canceled CBP One -- a Biden-era measure that allowed legal entry to the United States -- and announced the revocation of temporary legal status for more than 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans, a measure that will take effect on April 24.
