Havana, April 4 (RHC)-- Businesspeople from eastern Cuba held a meeting this week in Santiago de Cuba with the Economic Counselor of the German Embassy, Jens Gust (pictured), in which they discussed sustainable food production and changes in the energy matrix.

The main focus of the exchange was access to zero-emission work methods and renewable energy sources, as well as cutting-edge technologies for solid waste management.  These were common denominators for the eight private companies in the areas of renewable energy, recycling, and waste management.

Another group of seven ventures, more focused on food production and processing, emphasized access to raw materials, packaging, and agricultural technologies and insisted on the need to replace fossil fuels to gain sustainability and efficiency.

The Economic Counselor of the German Embassy in Cuba expressed interest in learning the cost sheets for the products and services, as well as elements of the feasibility studies that would demonstrate the possibility of reimbursement in the event of investments in the businesses in question.

The Project Coordinator of the German Trade and Investment Promotion Office in Cuba, Dianeysi Delgado, praised the entrepreneurs' energy and drive and expressed her office's willingness to cooperate in bringing German and Cuban businesspeople closer together.
