Cuban Construction Sector Promotes Foreign Investment Projects

Havana, December 19 (RHC-PL) -- Cuba's Construction Minister René Mesa said several investment projects with foreign capital haven been approved in the construction sector.

"We have approved a project to build light panels in the province of Ciego de Avila in joint venture with a foreign partner," Mesa told Prensa Latina.

According to the Cuban official, a cement plant in Santiago de Cuba has been approved and will operate as a joint venture.

Together with our foreign partners, we are also analyzing the possibility of investing in the revamp of several factories that possess a obsolete technology, he said.

The Cuban official added that the foreign partners are especially from China, Russia and members of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA).

He revealed that about 23,000 houses were built in 2014, many of them by the beneficiaries. Nearly 13,000 households were built by the State, mostly in the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Havana.
