Paris, January 1 (RHC-PL), -- Cuban Ambassador in France Hector Igarza said Thursday that the Cuban Revolution is sovereign and independent and does not have to bow to anyone or anything.

During a meeting to mark the 56th anniversary of the January 1, 1959 victory, Igarza mentioned some of achievements reached by Cuba in 2014.

The ambassador referred to the recent announcement made by Cuban and US presidents Raul Castro and Barack Obama, respectively, about the actions aimed at normalizing relations after direct talks.

"We hope that in the process towards normalization, the US Government understands that our Revolution is soverign," stressed the diplomat. Igarza highlighted the return to Cuba of the anti terrorist fighters Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, and Antonio Guerrero, who were held at US prisons for monitoring extremist groups conceiving violent actions against the caribbean country.

Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez, also members of the group known worldwide as The Five, had previously returned to Cuba after serving their sentences.
