Matanzas, January 13 (RHC-PL) -- Specialists of the Cuban Department of Science Technology and Environment (Citma) said the center will focus during this year 2015 on the reduction of pollutant sources and the protection of coastal areas.
Marisol Gil, delegate of Citma in the western province of Matanzas, told to Prensa Latina Monday that it is their intention to advance the ongoing campaign of removal of sources of pollution. Likewise, a comprehensive strategy for the preservation of hydrographic basins is under development.
The expert says that as part of this strategy Citma will promote the development of the green initiatives in municipalities throughout the country and the improvement of water treatment systems.
These actions will include studies of vulnerability, sustainable handling of the soils, investments for the environmental protection and improved security and sanitary measures at risk areas such as forests and beaches.
