II International Course on Ebola Planned for February in Cuba

Havana, January 14 (RHC) -- The Ministry of Public Health of Cuba has convened the Second International Course for the Prevention and Management of an Ebola pandemic, to be held from February 9th to the 14th.

The Institute of Tropical Medicine Pedro Kouri in Havana will host this course aimed at medical specialists, epidemiologists and health managers.

The main topics to be studied are epidemiology of the Ebola virus, clinical aspects of this disease, laboratory study, bio-safety, organization of health services and logistic assurance, the human factor in severe epidemics and social communication.

The program will be carried out through theoretical and practical lessons under the guidance of highly specialized professionals.

Cuba has been playing for several months now, a main role in the fight against the Ebola pandemic in West Africa. The island sent over 200 medical personnel to affected countries and has also provided educational aid to other countries, mainly in the Caribbean region, in the development of a comprehensive Ebola prevention plan.
