Geneva, January 17 (RHC-PL) -- Cuba and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) ratified Friday their willingness to continue the cooperation links in various topics of mutual interest. The Cuban ambassador to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organizations with headquarters in Switzerland, Anayansi Rodríguez, recognized IOM's support in the training of representatives of the island in regional courses.
She pointed out that this support has made possible the consolidation and expansion of knowledge about good practice in this area, informed a note from the Cuban Permanent Mission in that city.
For his part, the IOM Director General, William Lacy Swing, praised the experience of the Caribbean nation in the prevention and management of natural disasters.
He also welcomed the participation of Cuban specialists in the exchange of good practices and in the development of the guide for mass evacuation in natural disaster situations, developed by the IOM during 2014.
