Geneva, January 28 (RHC-PL) -- Cuba and the International Civil Protection Organization (ICPO) are holding talks today on strengthening the regional civil protection network.
During a meeting, the island's permanent representative at the UN in Geneva, Anayansi Rodriguez, and ICPO general secretary Vladimir Kuvshinov, talked about the diverse fronts opened to collaboration projects.
Kuvshinov highlighted Cuba's adhesion to the ICPO as full member, a development, he said, of great significance, given Havana's expertise in the field of civil protection and the great prospects this brings for cooperation, particularly in disaster prevention and mitigation.
On the other hand, Cuba's representative reiterated her country's commitment with the ICPO's objectives, and referred to the excellent ties this international organization has maintained with Cuban entities linked to this activity, particularly the Civil Defense's National General Staff.
The Caribbean nation officially became a full member of the International Civil Protection Organization on December 18.
