Havana, February 25 (RHC) -– Chinese companies are negotiating with Cuban state companies the establishment of joint ventures for the development of real estate projects and hotels, taking into account the opportunities that the Caribbean country offers for foreign investment in the tourism sector.

The advisor for economic and commercial relationship from the Asian country´s Embassy in Havana Ma Kequian, told reporters that the firm Beijing Enterprises Holdings Limited is working with the Cuban group Palmeras in the development of a big real estate project, that will include a 5-star hotel and a golf course, east of the Cuban capital.

The official also mentioned that the construction of a hotel in the Residential Marina Hemingway in Havana is being planned by the Cubanacan Group together with the Chinese company Suntime.

The diplomat considered that such actions will strengthen the bilateral relationships, as the commercial exchange in non-traditional sectors like tourism and investments broadens.

For the 9th time in a row, China was the biggest commercial partner of Cuba in 2014 in Asia, and 2nd at a global scale.
