Cuba Supports Chemical Weapons Ban

The Hague, April 29 (RHC) -– Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez has paid a visit to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and met with Director General Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü to discuss issues related to the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).

According to a report on BioPrepWatch.com, Üzümcü briefed Rodriguez on the OPCW’s mission to eliminate the Syrian government's chemical weapons program and discussed other initiatives being pursued by the intergovernmental agency involving international implementation and cooperation on the non-proliferation of chemical weapons.

He also thanked the Cuban foreign minister for his country’s contribution to many OPCW endeavors, such as hosting regional workshops.

Bruno Rodriguez said Cuba fully supports OPCW and indicated his country is committed to ensuring the future success of the convention on chemical weapons.
