Vatican City, May 9 (RHC) -- Pope Francis will meet Sunday at the Vatican with Cuban President Raul Castro, in an audience behind closed doors, sources in Rome said.
The Cuban head of state arrived in Rome on Saturday from Russia, where he took part in the celebrations for Victory Day, which saw a huge military parade in Moscow.
This will be the first meeting between the Cuban president and the first Latin American Pope.
After talks with the pope, Raul Castro will meet with Italian Prime Minister, Matteo Renzi. They will subsequently address reporters in Rome.
