Havana, May 15 (RHC) –- The president of the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development, Kanayo Wanze, highlighted the contribution made by that agency to the production of foodstuffs in Cuba.
In statements to reporters in Havana, Wanze described the ongoing Project for Rural Cooperative Development, which promotes the production of corn and beans in 18 municipalities in Cuba's eastern provinces.
The head of the UN agency, who is paying an official visit to Cuba, said that the program has 46 million US dollars in funds and has contributed so far to the strengthening of production capacities of 160 farmers cooperatives in the Caribbean island.
