Havana, June 10 (RHC)-- Cuban writer Leonardo Padura has won the Princess of Asturias Prize for Literature 2015 for his vast work that crosses all genres of prose and reflects the people's voices and stories of his time.
The judges of the Prize, the most important given by Spain, said that Padura is “an author rooted in tradition and decidedly contemporary; an inquirer of culture, showing the challenges and limits in the search for truth.”
Leonardo Padura was born in Havana in 1955 and is a Cuban novelist and journalist, best known for his series of detective novels featuring the detective Mario Conde. He has also written screenplays, short stories and essays.
