Seoul, June 22 (RHC) -– A Cuban culture festival will take place in the South Korean capital, Seoul, from June 26th to July 5th as part of cultural exchanges between the two countries, according to the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the festival, diverse cultural events, including a jazz concert, a Cuba film festival and a seminar on the national film industry will be held, the Korea Times reports.

The festival is a bid to facilitating cultural cooperation between the two countries, the ministry said. Alfred Ruiz, director-general of the Foreign Affairs Division of the Culture Ministry of Cuba, will visit Korea for the first time, leading the Cuban government delegation.

Renowned Cuban jazz band Albertico Lescay & Foras and artists Ana Meneses and Yoerlis Brunet will perform during the jazz concert slated for June 26th.

The Cuban culture festival will showcase nine modern movies. Ernesto Daranas, who directed the critically-acclaimed film Conducta (2014), will meet Korean fans during the opening ceremony.

The Cuban government delegation will arrive in Korea on June 23rd and stay until June 28th. Ruiz will meet Korean government officials and Korea Foundation officials to discuss ways to expand cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The foreign ministry hopes the Cuban cultural festival can play a key role in raising Koreans' understanding of the country and also the Cuban officials' awareness of Korean culture.
