Havana, Aug 22, (RHC), -- Cuba's work in the prevention and control of dengue was extolled by the Head of the PAHO/WHO Neglected, Tropical and Vector-born Diseases Unit, Gerardo Castellanos.

During the 14th International Course on Dengue held at the Pedro Kouri Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK), Castellanos said this scientific institution is one of the great bastions for the Pan-American Health Organization and the World Health Organization to work in the control of dengue in the Americas.

Another three institutes collaborating with PAHO/WHO in this regard are in Argetina, Brazil and the United States, noted Castellanos, who congratulated the Cuban government and health authorities for promoting international exchange among specialists from several countries.

He described this course on dengue as an adequate space to discuss strategies and new advances in the prevention and control of dengue, an ever increasing disease in the Americas and around the world.
