Cuba Appoints New Transportation Minister

Havana, September 10 (RHC)-- The Cuban Council of State, at the proposal of its President Raul Castro, agreed to appoint Deputy Economy and Planning Minister Adel Yzquierdo new Transportation Minister and release Cesar Ignacio Arocha from that post.

Yzquierdo, a member of the Political Bureau of Cuba's Communist Party, is a mechanical engineer who has carried out responsibilities in the Revolutionary Armed Forces and in activities related to the country's economy.

The newly-appointed transportation minister has been company director, minister of economy and vice president of the Cuban government, according to Granma newspaper, adding that former transportation minister Arocha will be assigned other responsibilities.
