Havana, September 11 (RHC)-- Government representatives from Cuba and the United States are meeting today here in Havana to continue advancing toward the normalization of bilateral relations, as agreed upon by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez and US Secretary of State John Kerry, during Kerry's visit to Cuba last month.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry said in a statement that during Friday's meeting of the Cuba-U.S. Commission, the two sides would decide on an agenda of bilateral issues to be addressed.

In that sense, representatives from the two governments will debate issues related to new cooperation areas, bilateral dialogue on bilateral and multilateral issues of common interest, and others, where there are sharp contradictions between the United States and Cuba.

Friday's meeting is being presided over by Josefina Vidal, Head of North America Department at Cuba's Foreign Ministry and on the U.S. side, by Edward Alex Lee, the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs.
