Washington, October 7 (RHC)-- U.S. lawmaker Rick Crawford, Republican for Arkansas, introduced a bill at the U.S. Congress seeking agricultural exchange between the United States and Cuba.

The legislator, along with Republicans for Texas Mike Conaway and Ted Poe introduced the draft legislation called Cuba Agricultural Exports Act, on Tuesday, according to US media outlets.

The move aims at repealing financial restrictions and allowing US banks to grant Cuba credit lines in connection with exports of US agricultural goods.

Under the current licenses, if Cuba wants to purchase U.S. goods it has to pay in cash and upfront, no credit lines are allowed due to the US economic, commercial and financial blockade.

The introduction of the draft legislation takes place a week after Arkansas' Governor Asa Hutchison traveled to Havana and during the visit to Cuba by Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker.
