Santa Clara, October 8 (RHC)-- More than 90,000 Cuban school children across the country joined the José Martí Young Pioneers' Organization this morning, paying tribute to Ernesto Che Guevara on the 48th anniversary of his death.

The Ernesto Guevara Memorial in the city of Santa Clara welcomed first graders, who received from their teachers and parents the neckerchief that identifies them as Moncada Pioneers.

Several veterans of the 8th Ciro Redondo Column that fought in the revolutionary struggle against the dictatorship talked with students and told stories about their combat experiences with Che.

Activities commemorating the date also included screenings of documentaries and films about the life of the revolutionary fighter.

In parks, squares and major centers across the country, students, teachers and young people held activities to honor the Argentinean-Cuban revolutionary.
