Guantánamo, November 18 (RHC)-- More than 200 delegates from 27 countries around the world have confirmed their participation in the 4th International Seminar for Peace and the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases, slated for November 23rd through the 25th in the eastern Cuban province of Guantánamo.

In statements to reporters, the President of the Cuban Movement for Peace and Peoples' Sovereignty, Silvio Platero, said 103 U.S. pacifists will attend the forum, among them: Cindy Sheehan, Ann Wright, Medea Benjamin, and other world personalities who have dedicated their lives to promote peace and understanding among peoples.

Platero explained that during the seminar, delegates will once again denounce the policy of interference by a handful of powerful states intent on setting up military bases all over the world as a way to advance their national interests. Participants will also express their support for the Cuban people's just and sovereign claim over the portion of territory illegally occupied by the U.S. Naval Base at Guantánamo.

Prior to the International Seminar for Peace and the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases, the Executive Committee of the World Peace Council (WPC) will meet also in Guantánamo.
